Sybil the Downing Street cat dies

Sybil the cat, who moved into Downing Street shortly after Prime Minister Gordon Brown took office two years ago, has died after a short illness

The black and white feline, named after Basil Fawlty's wife in the hit 1970s comedy Fawlty Towers, was brought to London by Alistair Darling after he became Chancellor of the Exchequer in Brown's government in June 2007.

Sybil died earlier this week at the home of a family friend, a Downing Street spokesman said.

Sybil's predecessor as chief mouser in the seat of government was Humphrey, who arrived in 1989 when Margaret Thatcher was in office, but left shortly after Blair came to power.

Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue dress to impress

Yesterday Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue resumed the battle for the best dressed as they attended the boot camp auditions for the X-Factor show in London.

But while they had pulled all the stops out, Simon Cowell turned up in a pair of jeans and a baggy white t-shirt for the session at the Hammersmith Apollo.

With her long legs on display, Cheryl, 26, appeared to have pipped Dannii this time round as she sauntered in wearing a purple mini-dress.

Meanwhile, her older rival Dannii, 37, who managed to out-do Cheryl with some edgy outfits earlier this month, covered up in black trousers and a sheer top.

Cowell, who this week enjoyed a surprise early 50th birthday party, left the fashion parade to the girls and was clearly not even attempting to dress up his look.

Earlier this month when announcing the new life audition process for the ITV show, he cheekily compared Cheryl and Dannii to 'peacocks'. He said: 'The girls, I think, are going to love it because they are like peacocks, those two, they want to be on show.'

Amy Winehouse to launch her own fragrance?

Amy Winehouse reportedly wants to launch her own perfume.

The Rehab songstress, who's back in the UK after an eight-month stay in St Lucia, is looking to follow in the footsteps of fellow singers
Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, and Kylie Minogue, and her dad Mitch is apparently working out a deal.

"Mitch is keen to license Amy's name to a perfume house - he has been in talks with manufacturers and contacted PR firms for advice," a source told the Daily Star.

"Amy is keen to expand her brand. The companies know her fans love to copy her style, and her trademark fashion and bee-hive hairdo were last year's must-have look."

Writing on her Twitter account, Diana said: "Guys, so my track has been leaked. Sucks, but nothing I can do about it. I hope you like it! It was the first song I wrote for my album!

"Unlike what a lot of people have been saying, it was never going to be a single or anything But, it's a good summer tune so enjoy!"

Diana, who finished fourth in last year's competition, recently announced that she would be making her West End debut in a revival of musical comedy The Rise And Fall of Little Voice.

Neverland to become the next Graceland?

The investors who bought Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch are reportedly considering opening it up to the public as a museum, it has been reported.

The loan for the late popstar's Santa Barbara estate was purchased last year when it was close to foreclosure. A source has said that that there are plans to turn the property into an homage to the King Of Pop - much like Elvis Presley's former Memphis home, known as Graceland.

"Michael had been having financial troubles for years. The loan bought on his ranch was essentially just a hefty favour for the singer," the insider said. "Despite some of the bad memories that happened at Neverland, Michael just couldn't part with the ranch.

"He loved it. He had every intention of buying it back with the money earned over in England [during the O2 residency]."

A financial consultant associated with Jackson added that it could be opened up as a public memorial to the late singer.

"They'll probably make even more money. As of now, the most likely plan is to transform Neverland into a Graceland-type arrangement."
